On 19th October, Teerthanker Mahaveer University’s College of Computing Sciences & Informat

College of Computing Sciences & Information Technology (CCSIT) & IEEE in collaboration with the NPTEL organized a one-day awareness workshop at TMU campus (22-08-2019).  About 105 delegates from various Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) of the region participated in it. The workshop centered to create maximum awareness among faculty members and students about NPTEL and its various initiatives which included sessions on NPTEL and its features, NPTEL’s online certification courses, the concept of NPTEL local chapter.

Ms. Angana Sengupta (IIT Kanpur), the key resource person briefed in detail about NPTEL’s establishments & objectives further enlightening about the building of NPTEL.

National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), initiated by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Guwahati and Roorkee) along with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2003.

NPTEL has been offering self-study courses across engineering, humanities and science streams for more than a decade. Also the highlighting factor is it’s certification for the course is done through an exam where the student gets an opportunity to earn a certificate from the IITs.

The inaugural session of the workshop was chaired by Principal, CCSIT Prof. RK Dwivedi, who appreciated the efforts of the organizers for holding such a workshop. He ensured TMU’s CCSIT will take qualitative steps for strengthening the digital initiatives of the Government of India. Explaining how small but effective steps such as these online portals will help their students to study various current topics that usually college books cannot suffice completely and make CCSIT not just one among the top 20 private colleges in Delhi NCR & Uttar Pradesh but number one private institute in Uttar Pradesh & Delhi NCR.  

Continuing he encouraged students to strengthen their learning and career paths by joining the online courses and stating how today’s digital era can provide education to every mind that wishes to learn and grow.

The workshop was concluded with an aspiring note for all the enthusiasts by knowing about such an online portal. All the participants were presented with certificates of this workshop.
