Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) under the aegis of MHRD’s Innovation cell initiative and the collaboration of TMU’s engineering college Faculty of Engineering & College of Computing Sciences & Information Technology (FOE& CCSIT) conducted a workshop on the topic ‘Intellectual Property Rights,’ (October 19, 2019).

The key speaker for this workshop was Mrs. Pooja Kumar, Director& CEO of Innove Intellects who holds an experience of more than 10 years in patent consultancy.  She provided an insight into the practical applications of IPR by methods like patent drafting, patentability search, and freedom to operate search, validity/invalidity search, and evidence of use analysis.

The workshop overviewed on IPR’s different forms like patent, copyrights, trademarks, conditions for patenting, non-patentable inventions, etc. Further, the guest lecturer elaborated on the procedures to get a copyright, trademarks, geographical indication, trade secrets, filing and anatomy of patents, documentation of patents, etc.

The next session was taken by Dr. Sakshi Singh who spoke about the technology commercialization and the IP policies related to it. She explained about the challenges, solution, the impact of technology, transfer of the technology along with the valuation, cost-based method, market-based method and income-based method, IP audit, need for IP audit, IP policies, IP committees encircling around the tech industry majorly.

More than 200 enthusiasts were a part of the workshop. The workshop co-ordinator Mr. Pradeep Verma (Asst. professor Electrical Engineering Dept.) received an appraisal from the Principal & Director Dr. RK Dwivedi for arranging such a technology value-based workshop.

Both the guest lecturers appreciated the efforts of FOE & CCSIT on conducting this workshop.

TMU’s FOE&CCSIT is one of the best B-tech, BCA, BSc (H) colleges in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Moreover, the college has a great placement facility along with infrastructural and academic amenities.
