WORKSHOP ON FIRST AID

The Faculty and Post-Graduate students of Teerthanker Mahaveer College of Nursing organized a 2 days’ workshop for asserting importance of FIRST AID to fraternity of constituent Colleges of TMU under the guidance and leadership of Prof. Dr. N. V. Muninarayanappa Principal College of Nursing.
The workshop was inaugurated on 26/11/15 by the Chief Guest Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Rakesh Kumar Mudgal, Dean Medical Sciences Dr. Promod Kumar and Principal College of Nursing Prof. Dr. N. V. Muninarayanappa. The workshop begins with Saraswati Vandana and lamp by lighting.
In his speech the Vice Chancellor emphasised the importance of First Aid and the role each one can play in saving a life. The Dean medical sciences also encouraged the participants to use this opportunity to learn the basic First aid measures. The Principal College of Nursing discussed the objectives of the workshop and also motivated the participants and organizers by wishing them all the best for the workshop.
The workshop was attended by a total number of 50 faculty members from all the colleges of the Teerthanker Mahaveer University.
The workshop included sessions on burns, heat and cold stroke, choking, drowning, head injuries, bleeding, insect-bite, dog-bite, snake-bite, fracture, bandaging, asthma attack and acid attack. All the topics were demonstrated by the faculties and the students. The demonstration was done for all the topics by the participants.
The organizers also conducted the pre-test and post-test on these above topics. The post-test mean score were significantly higher than the pre-test mean score which showed that the workshop was effective.
The valedictory session for the workshop took place on 27/11/15 at 3:30pm and the Chief Guest for the workshop was Respected Registrar Prof. Devadesh Sharma, Dean Medical Sciences Dr. Promod Kumar and Principal College of Nursing Prof. Dr. N. V. Muninarayanappa. The sessions began with lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana. The Chief Guest congratulated the Principal College of Nursing for organizing this workshop and making it a success. A brief report was presented by Mr. B.S. Illayaraja, the workshop organizer. The participants had also given their feedback and appreciated the workshop especially the demonstration part. The Principal College of Nursing thanked all the Directors, Principals and faculties of the colleges who participated in this workshop and made it a success. A manual on first aid was also released at this time by the Chief Guest Respected Registrar Prof. Devadesh Sharma, Dean Medical Sciences Dr. Promod Kumar and Principal College of Nursing Prof. Dr. N. V. Muninarayanappa.
