Teerthanker Mahaveer University feels privileged to celebrate eight year successful journey on its foundation day i.e. 14th September, 2016. On this auspicious day, various activities and competitions were organized by different colleges of the university. Being a proud member of TMU Family, Faculty of Engineering got the honour to organize ‘Debate & JAM Competition’ to rejoice ‘University Foundation Day’. Strenuous students from the university were invited to be the part of celebration by grabbing the opportunity of being acknowledged as University Speaker 2016-17 & University Orator 2016-17 through these competitions.
The event was inaugurated by lighting the lamp before the statue of goddess Sarswati by honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. R.K.Mudgal; honorable Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof P.D. Kaushik; Dean Academics, Prof K.K. Pandey; Director (FoE), Prof Ajay Ruhela; from IFLS, Mr. Kevulya Aacharya and Mr. Saubhagya Samal.
In the first phase of the program, Prof Ajay Ruhela, Director (FoE) congratulated to all on the occasion of completing eight year of university establishment. He encouraged the students to pursue their goals with continuous efforts and take part in activities / programs for their character-formation and grooming the personality along with curricula of their course. He told that science and technology is as the window of exposure.
Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof.R.K.Mudgal conveyed gratitude towards the students by saying that the achievement of the university depends on the achievement of the students. TMU is able to celebrate this occasion only just because of the students studying here and marking the university as reputed and well-known with their achievements. He motivated the students to remain proactive to achieve their goals.
Honorable Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof P.D. Kaushik , the chief guest of the event, emphasized on the importance of skill development in present scenario. He stated that the students of the university are full of talents and skills. They must retrospect themselves and identify their skills to pursue their aim and goal. This dream has been nurtured by Prime Minister, Mr. Narndera Modi by launching Skill India Development program.
Mr. Kevulya Aacharya, senior vice president of IFLS, revealed significant key points to the students how to be employable in modern era. He exemplified and motivated the students to utilize the opportunity. Team work, communication skills, and attitude are a few keys to be employable. Everyone must pursue the dream. He also threw the light on necessity of skill development for the students.
In Second phase of the program, a great number of students shared their views enthusiastically on the topic for debate “Lamp in our house but giving lights to neighbours”. In JAM (Just a minute) competition, students had to speak for a minute on the instantly given topic by picking up the slips. Both competitions were conducted into two levels: senior and junior. The competition was judged by Prof. P.Pandey, Head of Mechanical Department and Ms. Pragati Gupta, Faculty of Nursing College. Sagun Gupta, the student of B.Sc. III Year was declared the winner of debate and acknowledged as University Speaker 2016-17 in senior group, while Pooja Gupta,the student of B.Sc. II Year was declared the winner of debate and acknowledged as University Speaker 2016-17 in junior group.Divya Sahnwaal, Ramsha Khan, Faisal Khan Hasan Khan, Imran Ahmad, Utkarsh Singh were runner ups. Ayushi Jain was announced the winner of JAM and acknowledged as University Orator 2016-17 in senior group while Pooja Yadavwas declared the winner of JAM and acknowledged as University Orator 2016-17 in junior group. The program was anchored by the students Sagun Gupta and Faisal Hasan Khan under the coordination of Ms Neha Anand, Faculty member of FoE.
Ms Neha Anand conveyed the vote of thank to all to grace the program and make it successful.
