FORGOT YOUR DETAILS?

A Pandavani folk performance under The Aegis of Spic Macey took place on 30th August, 2016 at 11: 00 a.m. in the auditorium of the University. The act was presented by Smt. Shanti Bai Chelak & group.

The programme began with lamp lightening and rendering flowers before the statue of Maa Saraswati by Prof. P.D. Kaushik, Honorable Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. K.K. Pandey, Dean Academics & Director International Affairs, Prof. P.N. Arora, Joint Registrar, Prof. Ajay Ruhela, Director Faculty of Engineering and Mr. Sumit Chaudhary, Assitant Registrar Faculty of Engineering.

The anchor of the programme Mr. Manish Dhingra elucidated the existence of typical folk performance in the form of ‘Katha Prasang’ which was traditionally performed by men but at the onset of 1980; women also started performing with the help of musical instruments like Tambura. He also added that Smt. Shanti Bai Chelak has been trying from decades to keep this form of mythological art alive by performing at various stages and developing awareness among youth.

Later was the show of Smt. Shanti Bai Chelak along with the group of six instrumentalists. The folk performance, ‘Katha Prasang’ contained extracts of Mahabharat. The artist illustrated the motherhood of Kunti and her dilemma.

After the performance the anchor paid gratitude to Spic Macey and Smt. Shanti Bai Chelak for the delightful performance.
