Celebrating Law Day College of Law and Legal Studies of Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad  celebrated Law Day on Saturday 26 Nov 2011. The inaugural ceremony commenced with the auspicious lighting of the lamp by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. R. K. Mittal followed by Saraswati Vandana. Dr. Vandana Joshi, HOD  welcomed the gathering and stated the relevance of the day. Prof. R. K. Mittal addressed the gathering with his views about the role of law in society. He emphasized on the need of self-introspection focusing on the achievements made and the problems faced. Prof. Harbansh Dixit legal luminary in his speech underlined the importance of constitution and rule of law. A speech contest on ‘Independence of Judiciary’ was conducted which aimed to  highlight the importance of judicial independence. The main area of discussion was whether the judiciary is independent from government influence so that it  does protect the rights of the people in society. Pratibha student of B.A. LL.B. got the first prize and Raj Parashar student of B.B.A. LL.B. got the second prize. The audience had a valuable and inspiring discussion on the importance of constitution and law which was beautifully illustrated in the video presentations made by Rohit and Animesh students of B.COM. LL.B. On this occasion, the certificates to the winners of ‘Oceans’ (cultural and sports competitions) were also distributed. Dr. R.D. Yadav, Dr. Y.K. Mehta, Dr.A.K. Dubey, Ms Shalini Saxena, Mr. R.S. Jha, Mr. Yogendra Singh, Mr. Devendra Kumar, faculty in the Department were also present on the occasion.
