Pharmabiz 2018 (Quiz of Pharmacology)
Pharmabiz -2018 (Quiz on Pharmacology) was conducted by Department of Pharmacology under the aegis of Indian Society of Rational Pharmacotherapeutics (ISRPT) for MBBS Students of Batch 2016.
The preliminary round of the quiz was held on 16th November, 2018. Four sets of MCQ questions (50 MCQs in each set) were given to MBBS students of Batch 2016 for qualification for the Final Round of Quiz. Two participants who scored highest marks in each set were selected to participate in the final round of the quiz. A total of 8 students were selected for final round and were randomly divided into four groups.
The final round of the Quiz was held on 27th November, 2018 in the New Lecture Theater (TMMCRC) and the participant were further randomly divided into four-teams:
- Team Adrenaline of Dev Kumar Saini and Megha Jain
- Team Bradykinin of RashiPhogat and Rohit Kumar Jain
- Team Calcitonin of Shikha Dixit and ShikhaKaushik
- Team Dopamine of Rachna and Jayshri More.
The Quiz consisted of five round where after the first two round the team with lowest score was eliminated. The top three teams participated in next two rounds after which team with lowest scoring team was eliminated leaving us with two teams. These two teams then took the final round to decide the winner.
The first round (Kuch to Bolo) consisted of MCQ with four option out of which one was correct, each team was given three questions with 10 points for each correct response and it was no pass and no negative marking round.
The second round (PehchanKaun) consisted of three clues (statements) and the students had to guess the name of the drug. If the team answered in first clue they got 20 points, in the second clue they got 15 points and in the Third clue they got 10 points. For each wrong attempt 10 points were deducted. If the other team answered it they got 10 points and wrong attempt 10 points were deducted. After the first two rounds Team bradykinin had the lowest score and was eliminated. The other three teams them competed for the next two rounds.
The third round (KarBhala to ho Bura) was round on Adverse Drug reaction – each team was given two questions. Each question had one picture of the adverse drug reaction followed by two questions. The team had to answer both the question to score 20 points, no point was given for answering only one question. The question than passed to the next team and if they answered both correctly they got 10 points.
This was followed by Fourth Round (BhuleBisrePaane) which was the history round – each team was given two questions. Each question had one picture of the scientist and two statements of the work done by the scientist which was followed by two questions. The team had to answer both the question to score 20 points, no point was given for answering only one question. The question than passed to the next team and if they answered both correctly they got 10 points. After the end of fourth round the team with lowest score (Team Calcitonin) was eliminated.
The final round (Total Dhamaal) was between team Adrenaline & Dopamine – This was the rapid fire round. Each team had to answer a total of 19 questions/ maximum number of questions in 2 minutes, 10 points were given for each correct response. The question were either one word or true/ false statements.
At the end of round 5 team adrenaline consisting of Dev Kumar Saini and Megha Jain were runners-up and the event was won by Team dopamine of Rachna and Jayshri More.
All the participants as well as audiences were given awards. The awards were presented by Dr. Ajay Pant (Medical Superintendent &Vice Principal, TMHRC), Dr. S.K. Jain (Vice Principal TMMCRC), Dr. N Huda (Add Dean Academics TMMCRC), Dr. V.K. Singh (Deptuy MS, TMHRC), Dr S Dutta (Prof & HOD, Dept. of Pathology) and Dr. S Awasthi (Professor, Dept. of Pathology). Dr. Prithpal Singh Matreja (Prof & HOD, Dept. of Pharmacology) thanked the students for their active participation as well as the entire Department of Pharmacology consisting of Dr. Shilpa Patrick, Dr. Preeti Singh and Dr. Ruchi Chaudhary.
