A four-day sensitization program for making learning objectives for new curriculum as per CISP 2019 was conducted for the faculty of Medical College & Hospital from 27th March 2019 to 30th March 2019 at Lecture Theater 1 (Medical College Building).

The purpose of this sensitization program was to prepare to learn of objectives for the competencies in the respective specialities. This program was conducted after the Curriculum Committee of the College had undergone training for CISP from HIMS (Regional Center, MCI). MCI is planning to bring change in the MBBS curriculum from the academic session beginning 2019, the change that is being brought about is Competency-Based Medical Education so as to make the Indian Medical Graduate (IMG) globally relevant. The MCI started this phase training of the curriculum committee for the new curriculum so that faculty of all the Medical Colleges in India can get acclimatized to the changes in the MBBS curriculum.

The Curriculum Committee Members (Dr. Jayballabh Kumar, Prof – Physiology; Dr Ashutosh Kumar, Prof – Pathology; Dr Sadhna Singh, Prof – Community Medicine; Dr N K Singh, Prof – Surgery & Dr Prithpal S Matreja, Prof & HOD – Pharmacology & MEU Coordinator) were trained by Regional Center form 14th to 16th March 2019. During the training, it was conveyed that as per Instruction by MCI all the Medical Colleges had to upload the Learning Objectives to the Competencies (Designed by MCI) as well as Time Table for Phase I MBBS by 30th April 2019 on the website of the college. To fulfil this requirement a 4-day sensitization program for the faculty was held to make learning objectives.

The first step of this activity was to familiarize the faculty on Domain of learning for better understanding of the Curriculum, which was taken up by Dr N Huda (Add. Dean Academics and Prof – Orthopedics) as well as Dr Jayballabh Kumar. The other part of the sensitization program was to highlight the changes in the MBBS curriculum as well as clarify the concept of the new curriculum which was taken up by Dr Prithpal S Matreja. This was followed by group exercise of all the faculty participating to make learning objectives in their speciality and address any concerns thereof, which was taken up the Curriculum Committee.
