Department of Orthopaedics, Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College & Research Centre, Organised a workshop on surgical approaches to lower limb in association with the Department of Anatomy and Moradabad Orthopaedics Club on 13th October 2019.

This workshop was planned keeping the current requirement of trainee and young surgeons in Orthopaedics. It was designed to cover the most of the common surgical approaches to lower limbs including approaches required for total knee and hip replacement. The workshop was attended by the 30 delegates from different medical colleges of India and Nepal. Lectures were delivered by the experienced faculties of TMU as well as the guest from New Delhi along with Dr Ritabh Mittal from the Indian spinal injuries centre, and Dr Rehan Ul Haq from UCMS and GTB.  The workshop was conducted in two phases. In phase 1st, delegates were taught about the different surgical approaches to lower limb and in phase 2nd, they were given hands-on experience on cadavers. The workshop was headed by Dr Najmul Huda (Organising Chairperson), Dr Ajay Pant (Co- Organising Chairperson), Dr Amit Saraf (Organising Secretary), Dr Sandeep Bishnoi (Co-Organising Secretary).

There were an overwhelming response and participants suggested that such workshops should be organised more often at an institutional level to help students & should also include other parts of the body like upper limb & spine. So, we assured them that we will conduct such workshops in future including other parts of the body.
