On 18th of October 2011, the iconic Mumbai Dabbawalas addressed a congregation of students and faculty of various colleges of Teerthanker Mahaveer University in an historic lecture in which new parameters of six sigma as practiced by them were defined.
The talk proved that even today Harvard learns from India. The world famous companies like Apple talk about innovations, dabbawalas talk about ‘Indovations’ in the form of fresh hot meal to two lakh people daily, be it flood or sun, without delay. Harvard Business School published a case study of Mumbai Dabbawalas entitled, “The Dabbawala System: On- time Delivery, Every Time”.
Even Prince Charles was mesmerized by the excellent supply chain management of these semi educated people from the city of slums, stars and stocks and invited them to his marriage.
There was a thunderous applause from the audience at every sentence of the President Mumbai Dabbawala Association, Shri Raghunath Medge and General Secretary of the association, Shri Gangaram Talekar.
It was a matter of pride for the university to invite the national heroes who have brought honor to the nation throughout their 120 year old history.
The event was covered by a press conference and a number of channels covered it.
Ms. Vaishali Dhingra, introduced the Chief guest and the guest of honor.
Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. R. K. Mittal welcomed the guests.
Hon’ble Chancellor of the university Shri Suresh Jain and Hon’ble Group Vice Chairman Shri Manish Jain honored the guests by giving them mementoes. Prof R. K. Mudgal, Registrar of the university delivered the vote of thanks.
Mr. Manish Dhingra, Head, Mechanical Engineering and Vaishali, Faculty Incharge, CMCA were among the main event organizers.
