B.Sc. in Medical Lab Techniques (BMLT)
Objective/Thrust Areas
Program's
focus is on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease through the use of
clinical laboratory tests. Medical and Clinical laboratory technologists are
supposed to perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic,
microscopic and bacteriological tests. Students will be given sufficient
training to examine blood, tissue and other body substances, make cultures of
body fluid and tissue samples to determine the presence of bacteria, fungi,
parasite, or other micro organism. Students shall be trained to analyze samples
for chemical content or reaction and determine blood glucose and cholesterol
levels.

Options
Most
medical laboratory technicians work in hospital laboratories, public health
laboratories, reference laboratories, biomedical companies, universities,
industrial medical laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, forensic medicine and
the armed forces.
