Research Initiatives

Research and consultancy are a priority area for the university. The campus subscribes to the EBSCO database providing access to around 7,455 journals in different disciplines for full text research articles and sector specific reports. The university is committed to forging tie ups and collaborations with national and international institutions for teaching, research and exchange of faculty and students to enhance its research profile and standards. University has initiated a collaborative research program with Harvard University, USA to work on “The Champions Projects – Exploring the Determinate of Educational Success”. Another project, “UKIERI” has been undertaken for improving teaching pedagogy and IT enabled teaching in College of Nursing in collaboration with Napier University, U.K.

A number of sponsored projects founded by external agencies are in progress. Specifically to mention are: four projects sponsored by Ministry of Labor and Employment, GOI, one by Consultancy Development Center and one by UNICEF.

In addition, financial incentives are given to encourage students and faculty to contribute towards research and participate in national and international conferences and seminars. Large number of publication of quality research papers and industry-sponsored research projects have been undertaken by the faculty members.

The university offers Ph.D. program in Computer Applications, Dental Science, Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Education, Physical Education, Nursing, Law, Mass Communication, Allied Health science, Social Work, Home Science and Jainology which is likely to be extended to other areas of study as well. Already 80 students have been enrolled in Ph.D. program

TMU encourage professionals working in corporate and government institutions to undertake joint research studies. The university ordinance governing the Ph.D. Program is in consonance with the latest guidelines of the UGC that include;

  • Screening through TMU research aptitude test (TRAT);
  • Submission of synopsis and its presentation before the research committee;
  • Course Work;
  • Publication of minimum two research papers in peer reviewed journals from the research work;
  • Pre-submission presentation;
  • Oral defense after receiving positive report from external examiners.
