“Teachers have an important role to play in conducting and evaluating research. Informed teaching requires the critical reading and discussion of studies using a variety of research methods. As teachers apply the research of others to their own classroom contexts, they begin the kind of reflection that leads to the generation of their own research—often as teacher/practitioner researchers. Practicing teachers who ask questions and then systematically study their own teaching generate new research about teaching that can be shared with others.”Keeping this view in mind, Teerthanker Mahaveer Institute of Management & Technology of Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), Moradabad organized a two – day Workshop on Case Writing on 11-12 January, 2013 in TMIMT. The event spread over two days witnessed presence of about 40 delegates from different institutes.

The workshop was inaugurated by galaxy of educationists Prof. R. K. Mittal, Vice Chancellor (TMU), Prof. R. K. Mudgal, Registrar (TMU) Prof. Vipin Jain, Additional Director (TMIMT) and convener of the workshop, Dr. M. P. Singh (HOD,department of Management Studies). The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. R. K. Mittal, Vice Chancellor, Teerthanker Mahaveer University. In his address, he emphasized the need and significance of cases which not only refresh the knowledge but also help in dealing the real-life business situations. Prof.R.K.Mudgal, Registrar of the University also spoke on the event highlighting the importance of cases in teaching of Management subjects.

Day 1 of the workshop was facilitated by Dr. M. P. Singh, HOD, Department of Management Studies. He has over 15 years of experience in teaching, corporate training & research. He has done FDPM (IIM-A). He emphasized on types of cases, case writing process – three phases & case plan.

Day 2 of the workshop was facilitated by Dr. Arun Kumar Jain, senior professor of Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow. He focused on developing a case-study, do`s and don’ts in case writing, writing teaching notes, testing a case in classroom and case publication and registration process.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. M. P. Singh, coordinated by Ms.Gunjan Saxena and organized by Dr.Sonia Gupta, Mr. Mohit Rastogi, Ms. Yuvika Gupta Ms. Anushi Singh and Mr. Manish Joshi.
