Research Academic Activities
The Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics at TMDC&RC offers
MDS courses with an annual intake capacity of five students, approved by the Dental Council
of India (DCI). A majority of our
current postgraduate students have achieved scores above 300 marks in NEET PG. Additionally,
we provide orthodontic education to numerous undergraduate students in their third and final
year.
Our focus lies in fostering clinical and presentation skills among our
students, adhering to international standards. We conduct a wide range of research studies,
including clinical trials, in-vitro and in-vivo studies, FEM studies, C.B.C.T. studies, and
surveys, exploring various treatment modalities and advancements in the field.
Postgraduate students actively participate in national and state conferences, conventions,
and various CDE programs organised annually.
Our department takes pride in regularly publishing a diverse array of research,
including original studies, case reports, and other interesting findings in leading national
and international journals such as the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial
Orthopedics and the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics.
Furthermore, our students and faculty actively engage in reviewing esteemed international
journals.
To promote knowledge sharing and advancement in our specialty, we organise a
scientific forum once a year, where postgraduate students and staff present on the latest
developments. This forum aims to enlighten students from other specialty departments.
Additionally, we conduct seminars, journal clubs, pedagogy sessions, case presentations, and
regular assessments for our postgraduate students, following a monthly schedule.
We work to advance orthodontics through research, collaboration, and knowledge
sharing.
