Guest Lecture on AIDS Awareness Organised at TMU
On 30th November 2024, Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), Moradabad, hosted a significant awareness campaign, “Guest Lecture on Awareness of AIDS.” The event was organised by the Department of Physiotherapy and aimed to educate students about AIDS, its causes, symptoms, prevention strategies, and the importance of social awareness.
The session, held at LT-603 in the Nursing Building, began at 10:00 am with a ceremonial lamp-lighting, followed by the welcoming of esteemed guests.
Key Resource Persons
The session was graced by the presence of Dr Tung Vir Singh Arya, Professor of Medicine at Muzaffarnagar Medical College, who served as the resource person. Dr M.P. Singh, Dean of Student Welfare at TMU, was the Guest of Honour. The event was coordinated by Mr Harish Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Physiotherapy, and NSS Coordinator.
Informative Session on AIDS
Dr Tung Vir Singh Arya delivered an insightful lecture, addressing the gathered students about:
- The introduction to AIDS.
- Causes and modes of transmission.
- Recognising the signs and symptoms, such as fever, diarrhoea, weight loss, and chronic cough.
- The impact of AIDS on the immune system.
His talk also highlighted the rights of AIDS patients and emphasised the critical need for social awareness to combat stigma associated with the disease.
Attendance and Participation
Approximately 200 students from MPT 1st Semester, BPT 3rd Semester, and BPT 3rd Year attended the event. Their enthusiastic participation reflected a growing commitment to understanding and addressing issues surrounding sexually transmitted diseases.
