Inauguration of Centre for Indian Knowledge System (CIKS) at TMU Moradabad

Teerthanker Mahaveer University marked a momentous occasion on May 24, 2023, with the grand inauguration of the Centre for Indian Knowledge System (CIKS). The event was graced by esteemed guests from the academic and intellectual dominion, including Dr Renu Jain, the Vice-Chancellor of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and Prof. Kapil Kapoor, the former Pro Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University and recipient of the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award 2023. This remarkable milestone represents the university's unwavering commitment to preserving, promoting, and celebrating the rich heritage and wisdom of the Indian knowledge system.

A Historic Step Towards Preserving India's Intellectual Heritage

The event started with the welcome address by Prof. Anupam Jain, Professor Chair, Centre for Indian Knowledge System, he said that the inauguration of CIKS is an admirable initiative in boosting the essence of India's rich educational legacy, and TMU's commitment to preserving and promoting these traditions is much appreciated. Prof. Raghuvir Singh, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, of Teerthanker Mahaveer University stated that the National Education Policy 2020 lays special emphasis to revive the lost culture and restore the ancient systems of learning. He pointed out that knowledge is the great purifier and liberator of the self, hence conserving and spreading the ancient ways is our utmost duty.

Insights of the Esteemed Guests Gracing the Event

In her address, Dr. Renu Jain expressed her heartfelt congratulations to Teerthanker Mahaveer University for establishing the Centre for Indian Knowledge System (CIKS). She stated, “Our ancient scriptures and wisdom have timeless relevance and can offer valuable insights to the world. I applaud Teerthanker Mahaveer University for taking this significant step, and I am confident that CIKS will become a centre of excellence, encouraging research and intellectual exploration. Prof. Kapil Kapoor, delivered a captivating speech emphasizing the need to embrace and celebrate our cultural heritage. He also highlighted that the centre will foster a spirit of exploration and innovation, allowing us to discover timeless insights that can shape our present and future.

Dr. Manjula Jain, Dean Academics, TMU stated that the Center for Indian Knowledge System will collaborate with national and international institutions, fostering partnerships that enable the exchange of knowledge, research collaboration, and joint initiatives. This will create a vibrant ecosystem for intellectual learning and the promotion of our heritage of knowledge on a global scale. The inauguration ceremony concluded with a sense of assurance and enthusiasm among the attendees, who were inspired by the words of the esteemed guests. The session was successfully hosted by Ms Neha Anand, Assistant Director - Academics and coordinated by Prof. Dr Geetanshu Dawar, Convener, TMU-IIC.
