Innovative Techniques in Nuclear Medicine Explored at TMU
Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) organised a guest lecture on 14th September 2024, featuring Mr Raghvendra Nath Anand, Radiation Safety Officer II from Yashoda Hospital and Research Centre, Ghaziabad. The event, hosted by the College of Paramedical Sciences, shed light on "Innovative Techniques in Nuclear Medicine", focusing on advanced medical imaging technologies and safety protocols.
Advancements in Nuclear Medicine
The session primarily highlighted PET-CT (Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography), a hybrid imaging technique crucial for oncological imaging. Mr Anand explained:
- Operation and functionality of PET-CT equipment
- Safe methods of injecting and storing radiopharmaceuticals.
- Protocols for radioactive waste management and area monitoring to ensure safety.
This detailed lecture gave students and faculty practical knowledge in radiation safety, radiopharmaceutical management, and imaging procedures.
Participation and Interaction
The event witnessed participation from 88 attendees, including 81 students and 7 faculty members. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A round, where students discussed innovative ideas and clarified their doubts with Mr. Anand.
