Pharmabiz 2024: Pharmacology Quiz Highlights
The Department of Pharmacology at TMMC&RC (TMU), in association with the Indian Society of Rational Pharmacotherapeutics (ISRPT), successfully conducted the Pharmabiz 2024 (Quiz on Pharmacology) for MBBS students of Batch 2022-23. This prestigious event, now in its seventh edition, showcased the academic prowess of budding medical professionals and celebrated their knowledge of pharmacology.
Preliminary Round: A Step Towards Excellence
Held on 21st November 2024, the preliminary round involved four sets of MCQs, each containing 50 questions. The top two scorers from each set qualified for the final round, forming eight participants. These participants were randomly assigned into four teams:
- Team Adrenaline: Hansika and Vanshika
- Team Bradykinin: Aarjav Jain and Pihu Chaudhari
- Team Calcitonin: Dhruv Dhawan and Premeet
- Team Dopamine: Ayush Srivastava and Gunika
Final Round: A Battle of Knowledge
The final round, held on 28th November 2024, comprised five rounds of intense competition in the New Lecture Theatre at TMMC&RC.
Round 1: Kuch To Bolo
- Teams answered MCQs with five options.
- Each correct response earned 10 points.
- No passing or negative marking applied.
Round 2: Pehchan Kaun
- Teams identified drugs based on three clues.
- Points varied from 20 to 10 depending on the clue.
- Wrong answers incurred a 10-point deduction.
After these rounds, Team Adrenaline was eliminated due to the lowest score.
Middle Rounds: Kar Bhala to Ho Bura & Kya Kare Kya Na Kare
- Round 3: Focused on Adverse Drug Reactions using image-based questions.
- Round 4: Mechanisms of Drug Action with two-part questions.
Both rounds rewarded 20 points for correct answers while passing questions yielded 10 points for the next team. At the end of these rounds, Team Calcitonin faced elimination.
Final Round: Total Dhamaal
The last stage was a rapid-fire round between Team Bradykinin and Team Dopamine, where teams answered up to 20 questions in two minutes. Each correct answer earned 10 points. After an exhilarating face-off, Team Dopamine (Ayush Srivastava and Gunika) emerged victorious, while Team Bradykinin (Aarjav Jain and Pihu Chaudhari) secured the runner-up position.

Dr. Prithpal Singh Matreja, Vice Principal and HOD of Pharmacology, expressed gratitude to participants, faculty, and the audience for their enthusiastic involvement. The Department of Pharmacology meticulously organised the event under the guidance of a dedicated team of faculty members, ensuring its resounding success.
