About this Programme

The MBBS programme at Medical College & Research Centre, Teerthanker Mahaveer University aims at imparting quality education and training to students to help them in contributing to the growth of the health and medicine sector. The curriculum is designed to cultivate a culture of teamwork, scientific enquiry and lifelong learning for the students and the pedagogy used includes distinct teaching/learning methods that cater to different learning characteristics of a culturally diverse group of students like lectures, small group teaching, computer workshops, laboratory classes and problem-based learning. Teaching is complemented by case-based learning and early exposure to patient care in a variety of health community settings. M. D. in Anatomy is a Non Clinical Speciality course. Doctor of Medicine in Anatomy is a three-year postgraduation course. Anatomy is the specialized branch of medicine that deals with the structure of the human body. Subjects studied under this degree are Gross and Regional Anatomy, Osteology, Arthropology, Myology, Systemic Anatomy, Neuroanatomy, Applied and Clinical Anatomy, General & Systemic Embryology, Comparative Embryology, Principles of Genetics, General Histology, Histology of Organs & Structure, Staining Techniques, Outline of Evolution, Comparative Anatomy, Physical Anthropology, Radiological Anatomy, Surface Anatomy, Surface marking of Human Body. Any candidate who has passed the MBBS degree from a recognized University thereto by Medical Council of India or any other State Medical Council is eligible for the course.

M. D. in Physiology is a Non Clinical Speciality course. Doctor of Medicine in Physiology explores the studies of normal biological function, which provide the basis for understanding the abnormal function seen in human disease and for developing new methods for treating those diseases through translational research. It is a three year postgraduation course and any MBBS degree holders from a University recognized by Medical Council of India can pursue this course. Physiologists can work in the departments of physiology as well as in some other departments of neurophysiology, pharmacology, cell biology, and biochemistry.

Scope

M. D. in Forensic Medicine is a Non Clinical Speciality course. Doctor of Medicine in Forensic science is a three-year postgraduation course. Forensic science focuses on application of the scientific principles for crime investigation. Subjects studied under this degree are Forensic Science, Forensic Toxicology, Medical Jurisprudence and legal procedure, Law & Medicine and Autopsy. The curriculum provides basic and specialized services in relation with medico-legal responsibilities in practice of medicine and process of crime investigation.

Scope

Postgraduates of the course are broadly labeled as Forensic Pathologists. They are generally responsible for conducting medico-legal autopsies as requested by government bodies such as the Police Department. At research institutes, they may conduct autopsies to study a case in detail. In rare cases, professionals may also examine victims of abuse, rape, or others in relation to suit of nullity of marriage, divorce, and legitimacy affiliation cases, etc. They are generally also recruited as professors who train undergraduate students and postgraduate students in the same field. In general, they are trained mainly in conducting autopsies to determine a myriad of information about the cadaver starting from the sex, age, race, drug use history, medical history, all the way to the cause of death.
