Alumni Session on Basic Life Support: A Successful Hands-on Workshop
The College of Nursing at TMU recently hosted a successful alumni one-day hands-on workshop on Basic Life Support (BLS). Being the top University, TMU has always been the one which connects people to their roots.
The event, held on April 25, 2024, brought together alumni from various batches to refresh their skills and learn the latest techniques in emergency medical care.
Event Highlights
As the chief guest, the workshop was graced by Mr. Manas Jain, Team Leader of Nursing Services at the National Heart Institute, New Delhi. His expertise and insights provided valuable guidance to the participants. Other distinguished guests included the Joint Registrar, Prof. Nikhil Rastogi; Dean of Nursing, Prof. Ram Niwas; and Vice Principal, Gaurav Kumar.
A Focus on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
The central theme of the workshop was Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), a vital technique in saving lives during emergencies such as cardiac arrest. The session was highly interactive, with students eagerly participating in live demonstrations and engaging with Mr. Jain on several crucial topics related to nursing services and emergency healthcare.
Through this practical, hands-on approach, participants gained a deeper understanding of how to apply CPR techniques effectively, enhancing their readiness to handle real-life emergencies.
Event Purpose
The workshop's primary objective was to provide hands-on training to the alumni in essential BLS procedures, such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). These skills are crucial for saving lives in emergencies.
In addition to skill-building exercises, the event promoted the importance of team-based responses in emergencies, emphasising how well-coordinated efforts can significantly improve patient outcomes. The workshop not only enhanced participants' confidence but also highlighted the need for continual learning in the field of nursing.
Benefits of the Session
The Alumni Relations department organised the event, which has been instrumental in fostering connections between the college and its alumni. The workshop was a testament to the department's efforts in providing meaningful opportunities for alumni to stay engaged with their alma mater.
The active involvement of alumni played a pivotal role in the success of the event. As part of the Alumni Relations initiative, this session facilitated a deeper connection between current students and graduates, fostering a collaborative learning environment. The alumni brought real-world expertise to the workshop, offering insights into how Basic Life Support is applied in hospitals and emergency care units across India.
Conclusion
The Alumni Session on Basic Life Support concluded with a closing address by Prof Ram Niwas, who congratulated the participants for their dedication and encouraged them to utilise their newly acquired skills in their professional lives. He also expressed gratitude to Mr. Manas Jain and the alumni for their invaluable contributions.
