Animated Strip Event on Drugs Acting on Autacoids Held at TMU
Enhancing Learning Through Animation and Innovation: On 16th November 2024, Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College and Research Centre (TMMC&RC), under the aegis of the Indian Society for Rational Pharmacotherapeutics (ISRPT), organised an engaging event titled "Concept of Drugs Acting on Autacoids (Animated Strip)."
This initiative, aimed at enhancing the pharmacological understanding of students, marked a significant step in integrating innovative teaching methods into medical education.
Self-Directed Learning: A New Approach
The event was a part of the Self-Directed Learning (SDL) initiative introduced in the new curriculum of the National Medical Commission (NMC). Students from the 2022 CBME Batch were tasked with creating animated strips to explain the pharmacological actions of drugs acting on autacoids. This exercise encouraged them to explore creative ways to understand complex medical concepts.
Judging and Final Round
All students submitted their animated strips within the stipulated timeframe. The entries were judged by the faculty of the Department of Pharmacology based on criteria such as:
- Concept clarity.
- Content quality.
- Understanding of the topic.
From these submissions, 20 students were shortlisted for the final round held on 16th November 2024. The finalists presented their animated strips in 2-3 minute segments, judged by their peers and department faculty.

The event concluded with the following winners:
- Winner: Tarushi Singh
- First Runner-up: Manav Manchanda
- Second Runner-up: Aarjav Jain
All participants received certificates of participation for their commendable efforts.
Acknowledgement and Concluding Remarks
The event concluded with remarks from Prof. (Dr.) Prithpal Singh Matreja, Vice Principal and Head of the Department of Pharmacology. He highlighted the importance of incorporating technology into medical education to enhance understanding and retention.
