Awareness Program on World Mental Health Day

The Awareness Programme was conducted on World Mental Health Day on 10th October 2018 at 10.30 am in LT room. Prior to this function, debate competition was conducted on 8th October 2018. The topic was Effect of Social Media on Mental Health of Young People. Around 28 students were participated. Two groups were made in order to speak favour and in against on the topic. The students are divided into two batches for debate competition from Teerthanker Mahaveer College and Parsvanath School of Nursing. The judges of the event were Dr. Seema Singh, Associate professor, Dept. of Psychiatry TMHRC and Prof. Mrs. Kavitha Mole, Dept. of OBG Nursing, TMCON.

On 9th October 2018, Poster competition was conducted as a part of world mental health day programme in multipurpose hall at 10.30 am. Students were divided into 55 groups from all nursing courses participated in the event. The topic for poster presentation was Mental Health of Young People. Assessment criteria were explained to the students. The judges of the competition were Dr. Prerana Gupta, Associate Professor, Dept. of Psychiatry TMHRC and Dr. Seema Singh, Associate Professor, Dept. of Psychiatry TMHRC.

On 10th October 2018, World Mental Health Day Awareness Program was celebrated in LT Room from 10.30 am to 1.00 pm. The Programme was started with the invocation by Ms. Sanskriti of B.Sc. (N) 3rd year student. The welcome address for the program delivered by Ms. Jennifer Singh I year M.Sc. (N) student. The chief guest of the program was honorable Vice Chancellor Mr. Prof. R.K Mudgal, TMU. Dr. (Prof.) N.V Muninarayanappa, Principal of college of nursing gave inaugural address on World Mental Health Day function and shared his views about the mental health of young individuals. Chief Guest Professor R. K Mudgal Sir gave speech regarding mental health of young people affecting negatively as well as its positive impact. He discussed that young people are greatly influenced and affected by social media and usage of mobile phones upon their mental health. The role play was enacted by M.Sc(N) I year students on Young People and their Mental Health. The prize distribution was done to the winners of the events by Prof. R. K. Mudgal Sir, Dr. (Prof.) N.V Muninarayanappa and Dr. Prerana Gupta, Associate Professor Dept. of Psychiatry, TMHRC. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Prathiba Chauhan M.Sc(N) II year student. At the end of the programme, the participants stood up for National Anthem.
