Educational Tour to Securities and Exchange Board of India
On 13th October 2022, Teerthanker Mahaveer Institute of Management and Technology (TMIMT) organised an educational tour to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) at the New Delhi Regional Office for the students of B.Com (BSE) Ist, 2nd and 3rd year. The main purpose of the visit is to make students aware about safe investments and SEBI, its various roles, departments, functions and divisions under it.
Ms. Richa Milind Sorangi, Manager, Audit and Policy Compliance, SEBI, North Regional Office, New Delhi addressed the students and faculties at the Board Room of the SEBI RO Office and patiently took a one-and-a-half-hour session with the help of a presentation. She informed the students about the securities market, primary market and secondary market. She also told the KYC process of trading the DEMAT account and how to buy and sell securities.
The students also participated in the group discussion of Corporate actions like - Divided, Split & Bonus Shares, depository services, mutual fund investments, Commodity Derivatives , IPO, and ETFs. The students also came to know about Investor Grievance Redressal Mechanism through various platforms, investments by Non-Residents Indians (NRIs) in Indian Securities Market and their impact.
In Question & Answer sessions, students asked their queries and participated in the financial quiz conducted at the end of the session which was based on various topics covered in the talk. Winners of the quiz were given informative books published by SEBI under the investor awareness campaign. Students enjoyed the visit and learned about Financial Literacy and Investments.
The visit was promoted by Pulock Bhattacharji, SVP & Head Institutional Sales, BSE Institute Ltd, New Delhi for TMU students and the operational part was taken care of by Mr. Vivek Birla, Coordinator CRC, TMIMT along with Program Coordinator Dr. Nitin Agarwal, Department of Commerce, TMIMT with the help of faculty members Ms. Richa Saxena, Class Coordinator, B.Com (BSE) and Ms. Sheena Sharma, Academic Coordinator.
