Grand Celebration of Agriculture Premier League at Teerthanker Mahaveer University

Thrilling Matches and Outstanding Performances Mark the Event Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh – The three-day Agriculture Premier League (APL) at Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), held from 28th November to 2nd December 2024, concluded with remarkable displays of sportsmanship, teamwork, and talent across multiple disciplines. Among the standout stars of the event were Tadar Jinam and Abinash Kumar, whose exemplary performances captured the spirit of the tournament.

Key Highlights of the Tournament

Cricket

The cricket final saw a thrilling showdown between the second-year and third-year teams. The second-year team posted 94 runs in 15 overs, but the third-year team chased it down with a stellar performance, scoring 95 runs in just 8.4 oversHarshvardhan from the second year was named Player of the Series, showcasing incredible batting skills with 102 runs from 45 balls during the league.

Basketball

In a commanding display, the second-year team defeated the fourth-year team with a scoreline of 26-9Priyanshu, with an impressive 14 points, led his team to a resounding victory.

Volleyball

The second-year team dominated, defeating the first-year team in straight sets (25-7, 25-18). Fursat, an exceptional player from the second-year team, was honoured as the Best Player.

Athletics

The athletics segment witnessed stellar performances:

  • Avinash Kumar (second year) emerged victorious in the 100m race (10.39 seconds) and the 200m race (24.27 seconds).
  • In the girls’ category, Harika (second year) claimed the 100m race (14.31 seconds), while Shubhra (first year) clinched the 200m race (34.14 seconds).

Indoor Games

  • Chess: Gaurav Raj from the second year demonstrated strategic brilliance to win the title, while Shri Ram Purushottam was the runner-up.
  • Carrom: Tadar Jinam dominated the board with an astounding 150 points, securing the championship with finesse.

Kabaddi

The kabaddi finals delivered edge-of-the-seat excitement:

  • The boys’ team from the second year secured a narrow 41-39 victory over the third year.
  • The girls’ team claimed a decisive 35-15 victory, with Firoz being recognised as Best Raider and Sanjay as Best Defender. 

Football

In the football final, the second-year team edged past their opponents with a dramatic second-half performance. Tadar Jinam emerged as the star, scoring two decisive goals to secure the win and earn the Man of the Match title.

Tadar Jinam: A Multitalented Marvel

Hailing from the North East, Mr Tadar Jinam exemplifies versatility and passion. His achievements at the APL were nothing short of extraordinary:

  • Football: Highest scorer of the tournament and a match-winning performance in the final.
  • Carrom Champion: Showcased unparalleled strategy and skill to dominate the game.
  • Volleyball and Basketball: A vital contributor to his team’s victories, demonstrating athletic prowess across sports.
  • Athletics: Secured second place in both the 100m and 200m races, displaying remarkable speed and endurance.

Tadar Jinam has set a benchmark for excellence, inspiring students across TMU. His journey highlights the power of dedication and the university’s support for holistic development.

Abinash Kumar: An Athletics Prodigy

Representing Bihar, Mr Abinash Kumar shone as the undisputed star of the track and field events:

  • 100m Race: Gold medalist with a lightning-fast timing of 10.39 seconds.
  • 200m Race: Gold medalist with an impressive >24.27 seconds finish.
  • Long Jump: Secured the top spot with an extraordinary leap of 5.45 metres.

Abinash Kumar’s achievements underscore his relentless determination and athletic potential. His performance has not only brought pride to TMU but also served as an inspiration for his peers to aim higher.

Special Guests and Remarks

The closing ceremony was graced by Dr M.P.N. Singh (Dean of Student Welfare) and Dr Manu Mishra (Dean, of Physical Education).

Dr Singh commended the participants for their outstanding performances, saying, “Sports teach us discipline, teamwork, and resilience. This event reflects TMU’s commitment to nurturing these values in our students.”

Dr Mishra lauded the organisers and participants, adding, “The Agriculture Premier League is a celebration of talent and dedication, and I am proud to see our students excel across so many disciplines.”
