Leadership Talk Series: Mr. Naveen Jha, Harvard ALI Fellow Interacting with TMU Students
August, 21, 2023 - On the occasion of World Entrepreneurship Day, Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) organised another enriching session of the Leadership Talk Series featuring the esteemed speaker, Mr. Naveen Jha, who currently serves as a Senior Advanced Leadership Initiative (ALI) Fellow at Harvard Business School. This talk series aims to develop students' interpersonal skills and communication skills, besides providing them with the opportunity to learn from passionate and committed experts.
TMU's commitment to fostering leadership excellence and promoting knowledge-sharing opportunities was evident in the successful execution of this talk series. By hosting Mr. Naveen Jha, an accomplished leader with a track record of transforming ideas into impactful ventures, TMU aims to inspire the next generation of leaders and teach them the importance of visionary leadership and innovative problem-solving.
Mr. Naveen Jha is a distinguished figure known for his fervent belief in the transformative power of innovation and human ingenuity in resolving societal challenges. He served as CEO of the Deshpande Foundation India, a leader in sustainable and scalable enterprises with quantifiable social and economic impact. He also led Sandbox Startups and Leaders Accelerating Development programs that engaged over 30,000 college students in tackling societal issues.
During the keynote address, Mr. Jha shared his journey of Deshpande Educational Trust (DET) which was launched in 2010, and has grown into one of the biggest workforce skill development providers in the country, shaping thousands of employment-ready youths every year. He conveyed that there is a high need for skilled human resources in India across different sectors, including education, technology, entertainment, healthcare, especially in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
He motivated students to make the best of their time, come up with innovative ideas and encourage them to contribute in making India a 30 trillion economy in the next few years. He also shared about his initiative called TiE Hubli, which actively fosters a culture of entrepreneurship in Hubballi (a city in Karnataka) through mentoring, networking, education, funding, and incubation.
The event highlighted TMU's commitment to providing students with access to world-class leadership expertise. It was an excellent opportunity for aspiring leaders and faculty members to engage with a distinguished figure in the field of leadership. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Geentanshu Dawar, Convenor, TMU-IIC and facilitating the keynote speaker, chief guests and all the college principals. Later on, students asked their queries from the keynote speaker and got fruitful answers. The event was successfully coordinated by Ms. Neha Anand, Dr. Ruchi Kant, and Ms. Sheetal Malhan.
