Physiolympics 2024: A Spectacular Conclusion to TMU’s Premier Sports Festival

The Department of Physiotherapy, Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), proudly wrapped up the much-anticipated Physiolympics 2024 on November 23, 2024, at the TMU Sports Complex and Stadium. This three-day sports extravaganza, held from November 21 to 23, 2024, was a celebration of fitness, teamwork, and the competitive spirit of physiotherapy students.

Under the guidance of Dr Shivanee M. Kaul, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy, and with the support of faculty members and student volunteers, the event united participants from BPT 1st to 4th Year and MPT 1st and 3rd Semester for a series of exhilarating competitions.

Event Highlights by Day

Day 1: November 21, 2024 – A Grand Opening and Thrilling Matches

The event kicked off with an inauguration ceremony, featuring a formal march-past by NCC cadets and BPT students, followed by a symbolic balloon release and a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. Dignitaries Prof. Manjula Jain, Dean (Academics), and Dr. Neelima Jain, Director of Governance (Dental & Allied Health Sciences), joined Dr. Shivanee M. Kaul to open the festivities.

The first day’s sports events set the tone for the festival, with intense competitions in:

  • Badminton (Boys and Girls)
  • Volleyball (Boys)

The energy and enthusiasm displayed by the participants left the audience captivated.

Day 2: November 22, 2024 – A Day of Action-Packed Competitions

Day 2 was a showcase of skill and endurance, with multiple events happening simultaneously. Students excelled in both team and individual sports, including:

  • Cricket (Boys)
  • Basketball (Boys)
  • High Jump (Boys and Girls)
  • Kho-Kho (Girls)
  • Kabaddi (Boys)

The high-energy matches and stunning individual performances drew cheers and applause from the crowd, making the day a memorable one.

Day 3: November 23, 2024 – The Grand Finale

The final day was the most awaited, featuring:

  • Cricket Finals (Boys) kept spectators on the edge of their seats.
  • The 100 Metres Race, where participants were impressed with their speed and stamina.
  • The much-anticipated Tug of War (Boys and Girls) was a crowd favourite.
  • More intense action in Kabaddi (Boys).

The day ended with a heartwarming closing ceremony, including a Saraswati Aarti and a final march passed by NCC cadets and students.

Award Ceremony: Honouring Champions

During the award ceremony, Dr. Nikhil Rastogi, Professor and Joint Registrar (AR), Alumni Coordination Cell, joined Dr. Shivanee M. Kaul in distributing medals, trophies, and certificates to the winners. Each achievement was celebrated with resounding applause, marking the culmination of a successful event.
