Teerthanker Mahaveer University Signs MoU with SIFS for Forensic Science Advancement

Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) took a significant step forward in forensic science education and research by signing an MoU with the renowned Sherlock Institute of Forensic Science (SIFS) on 7th November 2024. This collaboration aims to advance forensic science learning, facilitate research projects, internships, and provide career-oriented training for TMU's forensic science students.

The event featured a guest lecture by Dr. Ranjeet Kumar Singh, Founder and CEO of SIFS, who engaged students with insights into the future of forensic science. Hosted by the College of Paramedical Sciences, TMU, the session drew a strong response, with 91 participants attending, including 85 students and six faculty members.

Future of Forensic Science Explored in Guest Lecture by Dr. Ranjeet Kumar Singh

Dr Ranjeet Kumar Singh’s lecture provided a deep dive into the emerging fields within forensic science, emphasising critical areas like forensic research, data science, forensic law, forensic psychology, and blockchain analysis. He discussed career pathways and skills required for tomorrow’s forensic science professionals. Dr. Singh highlighted the importance of sustainable development in forensic applications and encouraged students to stay adaptive to evolving forensic technologies.

TMU’s Vision for Innovation in Forensic Science

The signing of the MoU was attended by TMU’s Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) V K JainRegistrar Dr. Aditya Sharma, and Prof. (Dr.) Navneet Kumar, Principal of the College of Paramedical Sciences, as well as faculty members of the forensic science department. Discussions focused on the advantages of this collaboration, from establishing new partnerships for research projects and consultancy to exploring funding opportunities for advanced forensic labs. TMU aims to leverage SIFS’s expertise to provide hands-on learning experiences, funding support, and robust job placements for its students.

Faculty members Mr Ravi Kumar (HoD), Mr Yogesh Kumar, Mr Akash Chauhan, Ms Anshika Srivastava, Ms Apoorva Singh, and Ms Saumya Tripathi played active roles in developing the MoU terms. The agreement reflects TMU’s commitment to enhancing student opportunities through exposure to real-world forensic applications, enabling students to make strides in forensic science.

The MoU signing concluded with optimism and a shared dedication to fostering innovation and practical skills for the future forensic workforce. TMU and SIFS are poised to significantly contribute to forensic education, opening doors for students to become leaders in this impactful field.
