TMU Celebrates International Women's Day with Enthusiasm

Teerthanker Mahaveer University’s Department of Physiotherapy marked International Women's Day with a vibrant celebration on 8th March 2025 at LT-603. The event, led by Prof. Shivanee M. Kaul (HOD, Department of Physiotherapy, TMU), aimed to honour the achievements of women throughout history and in the present.

A Grand Beginning with a Traditional Ceremony

The event commenced at 2:00 PM with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, led by Ms. Shipra Gangwar (Senior Faculty, Assistant Professor, Department of Physiotherapy, TMU). This was followed by an insightful discussion on the significance of women in society, setting the stage for an engaging session ahead.

Speech Competition: Celebrating Inspiring Women

One of the key highlights of the event was a speech competition based on the theme “Inspiring Women: History & Present.” Students passionately spoke about remarkable women such as:

  • Avani Lekhara – India’s first woman Paralympian to win gold.
  • Dr. Ritu Karidhal Srivastava – Senior scientist at ISRO, instrumental in space missions.
  • Ramkripa Ananthan – Renowned automobile designer.
  • Rashmi Sinha – Entrepreneur and co-founder of SlideShare.

After an impressive display of oratory skills, the winners were declared:

  1. Bhoomika Bhardwaj (BPT 3rd Year)1st Place
    2. Anika Singh (BPT 3rd Year)2nd Place
    3. Akriti (MPT 4th Semester)3rd Place

A Mesmerising Dance Performance

Adding an artistic touch to the event, Aishwerya Jain and Gourisha Mathur (BPT 3rd Year) enthralled the audience with a soulful dance performance, leaving a lasting impact on attendees.

Quiz Competition: A Battle of Wits

The quiz competition that followed saw a tough contest between:

  • Team A (BPT 4th Year)
  • Team B (BPT 3rd Year)

After four rounds of intense quizzing, Team B emerged victorious with a narrow 2-point lead, showcasing their knowledge of remarkable women’s contributions.

A Well-Coordinated and Impactful Event

The event was successfully organised and coordinated by Ms. Neelam Chauhan (Assistant Professor, Department of Physiotherapy, TMU). Faculty members Ms. Himani, Ms. Shipra Gangwar, Ms. Priya Sharma, and Mr. Nand Kishore Sah graced the event with their presence. The program was elegantly anchored by Fabeha Naqvi (BPT 4th Year).

A Heartfelt Conclusion

The event concluded with Prof. Shivanee M. Kaul and other faculty members appreciating the participants for their stellar performances. They reinforced the importance of women’s empowerment and their significant contributions to shaping society. The celebration not only inspired students but also served as a reminder of the power and potential of women across all fields.

TMU’s Department of Physiotherapy once again proved its dedication to fostering knowledge, empowerment, and appreciation for women’s achievements.
