TMU Conducts Expert Workshop on Cybersecurity and IT Act Reforms

Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), renowned for its commitment to contemporary education, hosted a highly engaging expert talk and workshop titled “Innovation in Cybersecurity and the Role of the IT Act: Securing Today and Tomorrow”. The event was organised by the Department of Forensic Science and held at the university auditorium, drawing participation from over 400 students and faculty members.

The primary aim of the workshop was to raise awareness and enhance technical proficiency in cybercrime investigationdigital forensics, and the legal frameworks governing cyber offences. Participants gained practical exposure to various critical domains, including:

  • Network and mobile forensics

The event featured distinguished guest speakers from the Cyber Police Station, Moradabad (U.P.):

They delivered in-depth sessions on the latest developments in digital forensicsreal-life cybercrime casesinvestigative methodologies, and the significance of digital evidence in solving cyber offences. Their real-world examples captivated attendees and illustrated the complexity and importance of cyber investigations.

Academic Leaders Advocate Practical Learning

Prof. (Dr.) Navneet Kumar, Head of the College of Paramedical Sciences, emphasised the significance of such initiatives. He highlighted that hands-on training in cyber forensics equips students to confront real-world challenges and enhances their capacity to mitigate risks in an increasingly digitised world.

Adding legal depth to the event, Prof. Harbansh Dixit, Dean, TMU College of Law, elaborated on the IT Act and its application in curbing cybercrimes. He stressed the need for robust cyber laws to combat emerging threats like digital fraud and identity theft and explained the importance of legal literacy among future forensic professionals.

The workshop concluded with a lively interactive Q&A session, where students posed insightful questions regarding law enforcement practicesdigital evidence handling, and career opportunities in cyber forensics.
