TMU Observes World TB Day with Awareness Quiz and Street Play
Moradabad, March 24, 2025 — On the occasion of World Tuberculosis (TB) Day, the Department of Respiratory Medicine and the Department of Community Medicine at Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) jointly organised a series of awareness initiatives, including a street play in a village near Bagadpur and an engaging quiz competition on campus.
Final-year medical students actively participated in these events, showcasing their dedication to health awareness and social responsibility. A prize distribution ceremony was held at TMU’s Medical College to honour the winners and participants of these awareness initiatives.
Highlights of the Quiz Competition
The quiz focused on tuberculosis prevention, diagnosis, and treatment under the framework of national health programmes such as the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP). The winners of the quiz competition were:
- First Place: Archita Wadhwa, Ishita Yadav, and Satyam Singh
- Second Place: Siddharth Chaudhary
- Third Place: Tania Singh

During the event, Dr. N.K. Singh encouraged students to actively participate in national health programmes like NTEP, underlining their role in disease eradication efforts. Dr. Prithpal Singh Matreja shared valuable insights on anti-tubercular therapy (ATT) and its side effects, while Dr. V.K. Singh emphasised the importance of early diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis.
Dr. Sadhana Singh highlighted strategies for TB prevention, and Dr. Rajul Rastogi spoke about the growing significance of radiology and artificial intelligence in TB diagnosis and management.
Street Play: Raising Awareness at the Grassroots Level
To spread awareness at the community level, students staged a street play in a local village near Bagadpur, educating rural residents about the symptoms, prevention, and treatment of tuberculosis in an engaging and accessible format.
Organising Committee and Departmental Contributions
The event was successfully coordinated by Dr. Mazhar Maqsood, Head of the Respiratory Medicine Department, alongside dedicated faculty members, including Dr. Ravi Shankar Mishra, Dr. Pradeep Nirala, and Dr. Abhishek Kumar, among others.
Together, the students and faculty of TMU contributed meaningfully to raising awareness about TB diagnosis, treatment protocols, and community outreach, thereby supporting the vision of a TB-free India.
