TMU Physiotherapy Department Hosts Workshop on Mental Health and Innovation

On August 25, 2025, the Department of Physiotherapy, Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) organised an impactful workshop titled “Well-Being to Breakthroughs: The Mental Health Edge in Innovation and Entrepreneurship.” The event, held at LT-603, 5th Floor, Department of Physiotherapy, was attended by BPT first-semester students, faculty members, and Honourable HOD Dr. (Prof.) Shivanee M. Kaul.

The workshop was led by Ms. Sanjana Jain, Project Co-lead, Mental Health for School Projects, Sangath, a reputed non-governmental organisation working in the field of mental health with Dr. Samarpita Senapati (PT) as the event coordinator and Dr. Harish Sharma (PT) as co-coordinator.

Key Insights from the Workshop

Ms. Jain began the session by building a comprehensive understanding of mental health, addressing both unhealthy coping strategies and healthy mechanisms for effectively managing mental well-being.

She elaborated on the roles of psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, highlighting their significance in supporting students during challenging phases of academic and personal life.

Innovative Approach to Mental Health Awareness

Using engaging methods, Ms. Jain explained how to recognise signs and symptoms of mental illness, while also guiding on managing both self-care and empathetic care for others experiencing mental health challenges.

The workshop concluded with a Q&A session, where students actively participated, sharing their concerns and receiving practical insights into the struggles associated with understanding and addressing mental health.

Closing Ceremony and Acknowledgement

At the end of the event, Ms. Jain was honoured with a memento of appreciation for her valuable contribution. Expressing gratitude, Dr. (Prof.) Shivanee M. Kaul, HOD, Department of Physiotherapy, acknowledged the importance of such workshops in enhancing students’ awareness and resilience.

The event not only promoted mental health literacy but also aligned with TMU’s vision of empowering students with the knowledge and tools necessary to thrive in academics, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
