TMU's Anti-Drug Workshop Inspires Youth Towards a Positive and Drug-Free Life
In a powerful step towards social awareness and youth empowerment, Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) marked the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking by hosting an impactful anti-drug awareness workshop under the nationwide campaign “Nasha Mukt Bharat Pakwada”.
The workshop was jointly organised by the College of Computing Sciences and Information Technology (CCSIT) and the Faculty of Engineering, aligning with the theme: “Say Yes to Life, No to Drugs.”
Inauguration and Leadership
The session began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, led by Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar Dwivedi, Dean, Faculty of Engineering. In his address, he administered an anti-drug pledge to students, staff, and faculty, reaffirming TMU’s commitment to being a smoke- and drug-free campus.
He also emphasised the pivotal role of teachers as role models, stating that their conduct has a lasting influence on students and the community.
Keynote Session: “Buddy – Say Yes to Life, No to Drugs”
The highlight of the event was the emotionally resonant presentation by Mr. Arun Kumar Piparseniya on the theme ‘Buddy: Say Yes to Life, No to Drugs.’ He explained the idea of a "Buddy" — a true companion who stands by during tough times and inspires positive change.
Mr. Piparseniya elaborated on the ‘Saathi Programme’, not merely as a de-addiction campaign but as a broader movement fostering confidence, communication, and social responsibility.
Promoting Mental and Social Well-being
Using the KABP Model (Knowledge, Attitude, Belief, Practice), the workshop explained how individuals can avoid the harmful effects of substance abuse. Students were encouraged to channel their energy into constructive and positive activities such as:
- Yoga
- Sports
- Music
- Volunteering
This holistic approach aimed at creating resilient, aware, and emotionally strong individuals ready to contribute to a healthier society.

The event witnessed participation from faculty members, research scholars, and staff including:
Dr. R.K. More Than Just a Workshop
This event went beyond formal awareness—it was a social movement in itself, encouraging youth towards introspection, self-control, and community awareness. TMU’s workshop served as a beacon of hope, guiding students towards a drug-free, healthier and purpose-driven life.
