Update Yourself to Not Let Your Students Down: Shwetangana Santram
Being a teacher is a dream for graduate students who wish to embark on a career in academia. Before commencing this journey, it is pertinent to know that after the COVID outbreak, and NEP, there is still a need to work on the teaching competencies so that it leads to success in offline as well as online teaching. Developing a framework for professional development and self-assessment are crucial for the future lecturers. To guide students on the teaching competencies, the Faculty of Education, Teerthanker Mahaveer University organized an exclusive session on May 11, 2022.
The session was presided over by a mellowed principal of Wilsonia Scholars Home, Shwetangana Santram. Shwetangana Santram took a brilliant session in which she discussed the teachers’ journey, their behaviour and attitude.
While explaining the future lecturers about the teaching competencies, she spoke about the challenges and the changes that the lecturers deal with in their life. A lecturer needs to update themself with the latest trends and accept what life throws at them, then only they’ll be able to guide students for a better future. You’ll be able to attract the interest of the student in the respective domain area, added Santram.
Adding to it, Dr. Rashmi Mehrotra, Principal of Faculty of Education, added that a lecturer should not only be competent in numerous subjects but also possess a talent to gel well with the students. This will prove them to be a successful guru.
This enriching session has helped the students to gain insights into the teaching competencies. In the end, the guest recognised the meritorious students by felicitating them with the medals and certificates. The credit for flawlessly moderating the event goes to Mohit Verma.
