Teerthanker Mahaveer University’s College of Paramedical Sciences celebrated World Optometry Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and a strong sense of purpose. Organised under the aegis of the Institution Innovation Council (IIC), the event aimed to spread awareness about eye health and underscore the vital role of optometrists in society.

Inauguration and Awareness Rally

The programme commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting led by Prof. Dr. Navneet Kumar, Principal of the College of Paramedical Sciences. His guidance set the tone for a meaningful and impactful celebration.

Following the inauguration, students took to the streets with an awareness rally that delivered crucial messages related to eye care. They encouraged the public to undergo regular eye check-ups and emphasised the importance of maintaining good eye health.

Student Competitions Showcase Talent and Insight

A series of student-centric competitions was conducted as part of the event, highlighting creativity, knowledge, and communication skills. The poster-making competition and seminar presentation competition were the key attractions, drawing enthusiastic participation from students across various semesters.

In the symposium competition:

  • Alishba (IV Semester) secured the first position
  • Ghazia Naeem (VI Semester) earned the second position
  • Rabjot Singh (II Semester) claimed the third position

In the poster competition:

  • Huda (II Semester) achieved the first position
  • Supriya Mehta (VI Semester) came second
  • Pranjal (IV Semester) took third place
  • Sheeba (VI Semester) earned the fourth position

All winners were honoured and felicitated, encouraging continued excellence and inspiring peers to participate in future activities.

Promoting Innovation and Research in Optometry

The event served as a vital platform for promoting awareness regarding the significance of optometrists in preventive eye care, especially among children. Students were educated on the latest technologies, regular eye screening practices, and vision care techniques, equipping them with valuable insights to advance their skills in the domain.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Mr. Rakesh Kumar Yadav, Head of the Optometry Department. He appreciated the students’ active involvement and urged them to continue participating in such enriching academic and outreach initiatives.
