TMU Paramedical Students and Scholars Visit IIT Roorkee for Exposure to Advanced Research Techniques
Roorkee, March 20, 2025 — A group of 31 students, comprising B.Sc. MLT (VI Semester), M.Sc. MLT students and PhD scholars from the College of Paramedical Sciences, Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), undertook an educational visit to IIT Roorkee. The visit was led by Professor Ruchi Kant (HOD) and Professor Navneet Kumar (Principal), under the coordination of Mr. Baijnath Das and active support from Ms. Vivechana.
Purpose and Significance of the Visit
The objective of this academic tour was to provide practical exposure to advanced medical laboratories, cutting-edge instrumentation, and contemporary research methodologies. Hosted by Mr. Baijnath Das, the visit was enriched by the presence of distinguished IIT Roorkee professors, including:

Professor Sachin Suresh Tiwari
Introduced students to advanced neuroscience research, focusing particularly on neurodegeneration and Alzheimer’s disease. He explained the current limitations in diagnosing the disease during a patient’s lifetime and the ongoing research involving neurons and glial cells to better understand the disorder.
Professor Pravindra Kumar
Guided students through structural biology and drug discovery, highlighting work in protein purification, cancer molecule synthesis, gene cloning, and expression analysis. He elaborated on immunoglobulins, antimicrobial proteins, and material-binding proteins, offering a comprehensive view of molecular medicine.
Professor Partha Roy
Provided insight into the process of drug discovery, discussing experimental frameworks used in screening molecular compounds and evaluating their effectiveness in therapeutic applications.

Presented breakthroughs in computational biology, emphasising research on transcription factors, mutation-based receptors, and estrogen receptors, showcasing the digital transformation of biomedical studies.

- Circular Dichroism (CD) Spectroscopy

Conclusion
This educational visit to IIT Roorkee proved to be an intellectually enriching experience, equipping TMU students and scholars with in-depth knowledge of modern research methodologies. It significantly enhanced their understanding of medical diagnostics, molecular biology, and laboratory operations, laying a solid foundation for their future careers in healthcare and biomedical research.
