The MD (Doctor of Medicine) in Physiology is a three-year non-clinical postgraduate programme that explores the normal biological functions of the human body. As a foundational discipline in medical science, physiology serves as the bedrock for understanding pathophysiological changes and informs the development of effective diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. The curriculum offers an in-depth study of key physiological systems including the cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous, endocrine, renal, and musculoskeletal systems. Emphasis is placed on both theoretical understanding and hands-on laboratory experience, enabling students to investigate the complex regulatory mechanisms that maintain homeostasis in health and adapt in disease. Through exposure to experimental techniques, data analysis, and research methodology, students are trained to critically assess body functions and contribute to scientific advancements through translational research. Candidates must possess an MBBS degree from a university recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or any State Medical Council to be eligible. Graduates of the programme are well-prepared for academic roles, research careers, and interdisciplinary contributions in areas such as neurophysiology, pharmacology, cell biology, and biochemistry.
