Teerthanker Mahaveer University Organized 2nd Convocation
Long awaited moments of pride culminated in to 2nd Convocation of the University on February 20, 2013, when 1523 students from different disciplines were conferred degrees after fulfilling the performance standards of the University in the presence of a veteran politician and Chief Patron Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Akhilesh Yadav was the Chief Guest on this occasion. The convocation function was presided over by Shri Mohammad Azam Khan, Chancellor Mohammad Ali Johar University, Rampur & Ministry of Urban Development & Parliament Affairs who is known for his exemplary courage and iron will.
Dignitaries after inaugurating the magnificent building of College of Nursing took part in the academic procession of teachers in their customary attire led by the Registrar, Prof. R.K. Mudgal. The program commenced with Saraswati Vandana. After the convocation was declared open by the Hon’ble Chancellor Shri Suresh Jain, a ceremonial warm welcome was given to the distinguished guests. Prof. R. K. Mittal, Vice Chancellor presented Annual Report highlighting the glimpses of the achievements of the University and welcomed every one present on the occasion.
Honoris Causa D.Litt. degrees were conferred on Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav and Shri Mohammad Azam Khan in recognition of their selfless services to the humanity and upliftment of down trodden sections of the society. About 1523 jubilant students were conferred degrees who were found to be eligible for the same and 84 meritorious students were awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for their accomplishments in the respective programs.
Hon’ble Chancellor, Teerthanker Mahaveer University Shri Suresh Jain assured the dignitaries present that surely in the time to come TMU will be known for quality manpower and shall be in the list of top 200 universities of the world.
Shri Mohammad Azam Khan, in his presidential address to the students appreciated the stupendous achievements of the University in a short span of time and applauded the contribution it made for transforming the city into an "Education Hub".
The Chief Minister, Shri Akhilesh Yadav, congratulated the young achievers and asked them to strive hard for achievement of their dreams. He expressed his concern for scarcity of doctors as well as paramedical staff. He assured that if quality education, energy utilization and ample job opportunities are in right proportion, it can do wonders for growth and development of the nation.
In his inspirational speech, Shri Mulayam Singh called upon students to make use of their caliber for betterment of the society specifically towards girl education and health care sector and make the state proud of their deeds. The convocation concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Prof. R. K. Mudgal, Registrar of the university.
